Watch Live Channels on your pc

1. SopCast

sopcast is a simple, free way to broadcast video and audio or watch the video and listen to radio on the Internet. Adopting P2P(Peer-to-Peer) technology, It is very efficient and easy to use. Let anyone become a broadcaster without the costs of a powerful server and vast bandwidth.

You can build your own TV stations comparable with large commercial sites with minimal resources. Using SopCast, you can serve 10,000 online users with a personal computer and a home broadband connection.

SoP is the abbreviation for Streaming over P2P. Sopcast is a Streaming Direct Broadcasting System based on P2P. The core is the communication protocol produced by Sopcast Team, which is named sop://, or Sop technology.

2.TVU

tvu networks offers a free global live TV service that you can watch on your Windows PC over a broadband Internet connection. This service is dedicated to bringing you TV that you can't get from cable or satellite, such as news and sports from around the world.

The TVU service is accessed with a free downloadable Windows application, the TVUPlayer, which is available here. In the first year of service, the TVUPlayer has already been downloaded over 7 million times.

TVU uses a new broadcast technology called Real-Time Packet Replication. With this technology, all the viewers who are watching a channel at the same time are cooperating to give everyone the best possible signal. TVU's application does not create any new files on your hard disk because you're watching live TV.
Unlike typical Internet video broadcasts that use the older streaming technology, TVU's broadcasters do not need to dedicate more bandwidth for each additional user. This allows broadcasters to reach very large numbers of viewers at low cost. Because TVU can have an unlimited number of channels, TVU offers broadcasters opportunities denied to them by cable and satellite systems. Local broadcasters become global broadcasters; new channels can find a broadcast slot; and bigger broadcasters can create new channels to showcase content that they own but don't have space to broadcast on their existing channels.

Most exciting of all, viewers can become broadcasters using TVU networks' free Broadcast application. This application, combined with a standard-grade PC and a typical broadband Internet connection, allows anybody to become a broadcaster. This basic set-up allows any number of viewers world-wide to watch your channel.

3. tvants

TVants is a one of a kind, media broadcast software TVants is a one of a kind, media broadcast software. Its core technology is similar to the present, extremely popular, BitTorrent.

The software is now in testing, and is not very stable, but if this technology can really be perfected it will represent a breakthrough in its field and will also enable large-scale popularization of television networks.

Users are free to broadcast their own channels by supplying an MMS, RTSP, or HTTP stream address into the program's broadcast server

Make ur FireFox Faster!

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them)
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30.
This means it will make 30 requests at once. (I changed mine to 100, works great.)

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves Enjoy!

Increase your Bandwidth by 20%

Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth!

Get it back A nice little tweak for XP. M*crosoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here's how to get it back: Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the " This opens the group policy editor.

Then go to: Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth.

It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab : "By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%. works on XP Pro, and 2000 other OS not tested.

XP - hidden program

Now lets play with hidden tool which is iExpress...it isnt something like huge find...but then its hidden for some people that doesnt know it exist...
as usual go to: Start Menu > Run > type "iexpress"

you will get a pop up screenshot like this: so the question is what is iExpress?!..
here is the definition took from tlab explaning what it do: IExpress is a utility that lets you create standalone installation packages that can be used to extract files or temporarily extract installation source files and then run the setup command.

IExpress creates an output file, and executable (.exe) that contains all the files you specified, and the instructions to carry out the extraction of these files.

The files are stored compressed in Microsoft's cabinet format.

Dont worry if you dont understand what it define above...you can always count on microsoft website which contain details info step by step with screenshot on below link:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/ie/reskit/ie4/appendixes/appendl.mspx
and just a little add on...there is one powerful feature name GPEDIT for long term also known as Local Group Policy Editor...
you can go there by: Start Menu > Run > type "gpedit.msc" this feature allow you to modify virtually every feature in Windows XP PRO without having to resort to regedit.

It pack with information on each policies run in your machine.

Not enough of tips? well ok fine! lets play with another called "MMC" ...its another powerful feature that i use oftenly to manage my network...

you can obtain MMC feature by going to: Start Menu > Run > type "MMC" Yup...dont cuss me yet! i know it shown nothing...you can add the feature on your own by going to FILE > ADD/REMOVE SNAP IN Oh yeah patient, patient ...i know it shown nothing...you still need to click on "ADD" located on below then add the features that you use oftenly...Save it on your desktop or somewhere protected place to access the customize features easily.

7 Ways to Speed up and Optimize Windows XP

7 Ways to Speed up and Optimize Windows XP Quick and easy
---------------------------------------------------------
After seeing how popular Blifaloo's guide to virus removal and prevention has become, I decided to write some more articles about taking care of your computer. The following is a list of easy tweaks you can do to speed up the overall performance of your PC with Windows XP.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Disable File Indexing Huh? This indexing service gets info from files on the hard drive and creates a "searchable keyword index." If you don't use the XP search feature often to look for documents, you can turn this feature off, and the difference you'll notice is a slight increase in the time it takes for your computer to find a file, but an overall increase in general speed for everything else. How to : From My Computer > right-click on the C: Drive > select Properties. Uncheck "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching." Apply changes to "C: sub folders and files," and click OK.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Clean Up Prefetch, temp, and cache files Huh? Windows stores a lot of temporary files that can be safely cleaned out once a month or so. This is also good to do before running virus or spyware scans, as it clears many things out of your system that would need to be scanned. How to : Download CleanUp! How to use CleanUp! : Download, Install, and Run.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Install some RAM Huh? If you are running 128mb or 256mb of Ram, it's pretty cheap and easy to upgrade to 512mb. This is the only suggestion I will make that will actually cost money, but it's also the one that will best improve performance. How to : Not sure how to install Ram, or even what kind you need or where to get it from? Check out Blifaloo's article on how to Add Ram to your PC.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Remove Programs & files you no longer need or use IPB Image Huh? Having old games or other software you no longer use can take up a lot of space on your hard drive, which can lead to an overall decrease in your PC's performance. How to : Removing old programs is easy. From the Control Panel click on the "Add or Remove Programs" Icon. You can safely remove programs like games, demos, and other software you no longer use. If you are not sure what a program is... don't delete it just yet. You can do an internet search to find out more about any mystery programs installed on your PC to decide to delete them or not. Remember: Mp3 music files and videos you download can take up a lot of space. Go through your media files once a month or so and delete the ones you no longer use.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Turn off Windows Animations and Visual Effects Huh? Fancy sliding, fading and animated effects that windows uses by default are easily turned off, and will make the reaction time of simple tasks like opening and moving windows, taskbars, etc... much quicker. How to : From the Control Panel, click on the "System" icon. Click on the Advanced tab. Click the "Settings" button underneath "Performance". Uncheck the options related to animations, and other unneeded visual effects. Personally, I only have 3 items checked in here: "smooth edges of screen fonts", "use common tasks in folders", and "use visual styles on windows and buttons". You can uncheck all of them if you like. But, just getting rid of all the animated features will help the responsiveness of your PC.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Remove unused Fonts Huh? Having too many fonts can realllllllly slow down how fast programs start up. Some people say have no more than 500 fonts installed on WinXP, but I personally try to keep the number of fonts below 200. The less you have the faster your programs that use them (office software, graphic programs etc..) will load. How to : From the Control Panel, click on the "Fonts" icon. You can delete the fonts you don't use here. Remember: to keep the basics: Verdana, Arial, Times, Trebuchet, Courier, serif, sans-serif, Georgia, etc... Along with any fonts related to your business.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Get a Virus, Spyware and Malware Clean System Huh? Chances are you have some sort of virus, spyware or malware on your computer. How to : Get Adware and Spybot S&D in addition to a Firewall and Antivirus program. Remember: Keep your anti-virus programs up-to-date. And always research any software you plan on downloading to "help" your PC. Some anti-virus / anti-spyware software actually have spyware.
thats it
now see the change for yourself
